Visible and Invisible aspects of the Gospel

Today I want to expand on the Gospel and the Evangelical message that God brings to us.
Let’s first read Genesis 1: 6-8.

“6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which                were above the firmament: and it was so.

8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.”

I would like to emphasize the following in the text above, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of  the waters”, “God called the firmament Heaven”.

We begin by looking at the visible and invisible aspects of the gospel of Christ. In a previous writing (to read follow this link), I have already discussed in depth the matter of the visible and invisible aspects of the gospel.

The purpose that you and I have with those two words is the comprehensibility and the incomprehensibility of the matter we are discussing. In other words, the Spiritual and the natural. The one is nature, the natural, it’s the one I can see and experience with my five senses. The other is the spiritual, that’s what I can not see, feel, hear, taste or smell with my natural senses. When we talk about the light, spiritually light is what I can see, in other words it’s understandability. In darkness I can not see, it is in other words the incomprehensible, or ignorance.

The one is nature as we live and breath it, and the other is Spirit.

When I take a book in my hands, I can feel it, you can feel it too. We can see it and taste if we wanted to. We can hear it when the book falls to the floor, and we can smell it’s wonderful fragrant smell between the pages. This is a natural book, in a natural world.

The Spiritual is what I can not see, with my natural eye I mean. One can see spiritually, with the spiritual eye. To make it easy, we only talk about visible and invisible aspects of the Spirit of God and the Gospel.  The Bible is written spiritually, therefor the Bible is meant to be used, understood and lived a spiritual way.

It is very important that we have a firm grasp on understanding this concepts, as the foundation of a building must be strong and settled so that the building is not shattered. The same goes for our understanding and grasp of the spiritual concept. We must have a proper understanding.

I take the Communion as an example, in the Bible He speaks of the Holy Communion and the True Communion. The Holy Communion is that one we get in Church with the bread and the juice or wine. This is symbolic of the True Communion, where each of us is a piece of bread in the plate, and so we must eat from each other, together in love and peace.
The wine or juice represents the blood of Christ. These are our fair deeds. For He says to eat and drink, for it is My blood, the blood of the New Testament, which is poured out for many unto forgiveness of sin. The cup in which this wine comes is the act, the duty God gave to each of us.  In other words, the task God has given unto you and me.

Answer me this question. When can you hurt?

When you worked hard, your body or your hands hurt. Your feet too. I do woodwork, I regularly cut or break places and places on my hands that shaved the skin. But I could not have that pain, the little bit of hurt, if I just sat on a stool and did nothing. You can only get hurt by the work you do. This is the only way.

When I get up from my bed this morning, I’m sitting on a chair. I get someone to touch me, I move down and I do absolutely nothing. Tonight, when sleep time is over, I get up and I get into the bed. Will I ever hurt or draw blood? No, I will not.  My point being this, the blood is represented by the wine or juice, this is our fair deeds, that which we do.

The blood is the New Testament which is poured out for many unto forgiveness of sin.  The New Testament in me is the part where I’ve made the change in my way of thinking, the switch from visible to invible.  In that spiritual way of thinking, you start to do things differently, and you start to live the Gospel, that is where our blood, (our fair deeds) are poured out onto our forgiveness for past sins and mistakes.

Here we have one thing we will need to address seriously.

Because somewhere on my back I have a problem, or a situation with another person. Somebody close to me. Maybe it’s my boys, or fellow parents at school. I may be angry and hurt, now I do not want to make peace. I stay on my high horse and when I see the person I want to throw stones at them. This is an example only. Is this expample part of the spiritual, the unseen aspect of True Communion. Am I prepared to forgive? Do I accept the person as he or she is, or am I nursing that thing in my mind?

Let’s come back to this heaven, the firmament in the midst of the waters.

God said that there would be a firmament in the midst of the waters. Let me ask you a question about water. If I have a glass of water in my hand, is there water in it or waters? Waters is the plural of water. In other words, it’s a lot of water. I’ve been done with school for many years, but I know we do not talk about waters at all, it’s just water. There is only water in a glass, there are no 2 or 3 waters. Water is just water, no matter the volume.

In the entire Hardap Dam there is only water, not many waters. It is the largest dam in our country, Hardap Dam. We have properly determined, no matter how much water it stays water.

But God speaks of waters. What water does He speak of exactly?

He said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and make the separation between waters and waters. He still speaks of waters. Go read it in Genesis 1: 1-13.

Let me explain with the following example.

In Southern Africa alone, there are more than 2,000 registered church societies. It’s a billion dollar industry, because the happier I can and chat, and the more pleasure I offer, the more pounds I get in the pot.

I have to add, all of them teach their people to be better people and to do more good, and with that I agree wholeheartedly. Anything and everything that makes mankind better is an advantage to the world, so I pray that each will continue with the good work they do. And so they will be blessed.

Those many different gospels, each of the more than 2,000 church societies, those gospels are the waters of which God speaks. Different waters, different gospels, different ways of understanding, different ways of interpreting the Holy Scriptures. And He made a separation between waters and waters.  He seperated the different gospels for me, in my mind of understanding, He seperated them and made one more clear and understandable.
All the waters spoken in the Bible are gospel words. All water is gospel. Jesus came to the well and asked the woman for water, it is written in John 4: 1-42. He said unto her, when you give me water, I will give you water of which you will never thirst. The water of life. The spiritual water. In other words, the clarification of the gospel of Christ in a spiritual understandable way.

And he showed me a river of water, clear like Christ flowing out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. Revelation 22. And you will remember in my previous writing we talked about this, where do I find God? Where do I go for God? You can read here if you missed it.

“Come!” “And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.”- Revelation 22:17
He also comes and tells His disciples, surely I tell you this generation … not another generation from long ago or one still to come, today is this generation. You and I are this generation. He says this generation will not pass before all these things have happened. Until everything is finished. He also said that the kingdom of God does not come with visible signs.  He came to tell us, do not look here or look there because the Kingdom of God is within you. Jesus says in my Father’s house there are many homes. Each of us are one of this many homes.

We reveal God by living the fruit of the Spirit. Behold, if I have love, I have peace, and all the fruit.

If I love, I treat others with love too. I would like to use an example that I see with my parents. Jesus also spoke in parables to convey better comprehension. My dad will always say to my mother that food was very good after eating. He will always praise her and be grateful to her. It is a very beautiful thing. And the times he did not like what she made, then he would tell her 2 weeks later not to prepare again. Is this love? Is this what God is? It is. I see and know God in and through my parents. But so in and through many other people around me too.

God in flesh.

Not far behind the sun, moon and stars. God is Spirit, and truth and love.

The Spirit of God has floated on the waters. The waters are the different gospels. These are the waters that He separated. God could not find a resting place until there was a change in me, a change in my way of thinking and doing.

When start to understand what God really is and where to find Him. Then God can make a living in me, find a resting place within me. God is near, and He lives.

I also reveal God every day, wherever I go, with every person I come into contact with, God reveals and works through me.  I do not walk with the bible under my arm, because the Gospel is a way of life. God is in me and with me, I live the Lord. The Gospel is visible through my deeds. Deeds speak louder than words.

Do you have a Bible to read the things I talked about? If not, you should not wait get yourself a Bible today, follow my link here.

Hi Marlene – what a wonderful article, so much to think about. I’d like to comment on just two aspects in order to keep this to a reasonable length.

I struggle with forgiveness of others and I think it’s something many people struggle with, too. Usually, I try to forget. I avoid and ignore the other person. God may be able to forgive them and their sins but, as the saying goes: “to err is human; to forgive, divine”. I have meditated much upon this and come to the cnclusion that I am not spiritually advanced enough to be able to do this. Perhaps it will come in time. What do you think?

The second thing is the idea that God works throuh me. I have had moments of spirituality when I have felt at one with God and the universe and they were wonderful days. I had a sense of peace and purpose but I found that feeling to be a fragile thing which came and went as outide (worldly) pressures demanded attention and finally, the outside pressure pushed out the inner spirituality. Does that make sense? I was able to have that feeling when I ignored the outside wrold but when I had to pay attention, it disappeared. I can understand the benefit of being cloistured but that’s not something I want to do. Do you have any suggestions for getting that balance right?

    Thank you so much,Ian

Thank you for your comment. It’s a pleasure to see you find the article useful, and so much worth thinking about.

Forgiveness is something we have to practice daily.  Even the most difficult ones, try to see the positive in the situation or person and try to forgive.  At some point it happens and you are free.  As with anything, practice makes perfect. I suggest you pick a time of day, to make a routine.  Write down what you struggle to forgive.  Take your mind off everything else for a few minutes and just think and try to do what you have to which is find something positive and forgive, then release it to the universe.

You are a spiritual being in a physical form.  The physical stuff does not matter.  Only the Spiritual stuff is of utmost importance.

Your struggle with inner spirituality makes sense.  The more we are at peace with all worldly things, the easier it gets to let God work through us.  You are not this physical being you see in the mirror, you are a spiritual being.

On this site I have more posts.  I suggest you read them.  You may find something interesting.

Hi Marlene, Thank you for the way you interpreted The Word. It was helpful and a unique way of doing so. I am a Christian and have been for more than 60 years and have read these passages and heard them in Church umpteen times but one never tires of hearing them and thinking on their meaning.

Am so thankful to my parents for teaching me right from the beginning how important it was to believe and love the Lord and this I have done. He has never forsaken me and I know He is faithful to His Word.

Have also always been an avid reader and book collector. Have just given my rare and collectable books to a Charity as I moved into a Retirement Complex and there was no room for them.

So sad to hear about your books Jill.  May they inspire and uplift many readers.

Love is most important of all, for God is love.  And believe is the cornerstone of our existence.

Thank you for your comment Jill.  May the light be with you.

You have explained the concept of natural world and spiritual world in a very lucid way. Understanding the same is very important to understand the whole concept. We all know that forgiving is divine but we are not able to forgive and forget so many times and stay on our high horse! Thanks for such a nice article

    • Marlene W

Thank you for your comment.  You are welcome.

Forgiving is something that must be practiced on a daily basis.  Until it is second nature to forgive on the spot.  It can be done.  Forgiving is also to understand and have compassion towards whoever it is I need to forgive.

Forgiving becomes a lifestyle if practiced enough.

Very beautifully written article. I like how you described the difference between seeing and feeling a hardcover book as well seeing spiritually. I’ve always been a very spiritual person and believe the Bible brings forth a much needed spirituality for the believing person. Your writing has a very profound effect on how I’m looking at the way my belief is working right now. Thank you for a great written article.

Thank you for your comment Jagi.  I greatly appreciate.

The Bible is indeed a powerful book.  I advise you read my other articles as well.  There are some real interesting insights you may enjoy.

First, I gotta say I love the title of your site. It’s great. I had to pull out my own bible to read this scripture passage. I was unfamiliar with the words used. I use the New American Bible translation. It uses the word dome in place of firmament and sky in place of heaven. That helps it to make more sense for me. The translation I use also talks about waters as bodies of water. So the waters below the sky, or heaven, is in reference to different oceans, lakes, and streams.

Your interpretation is an interesting one and shows how dynamic the bible is. Each time you read a passage you can take a different meaning out of it. The meaning you get on an occasion is the one you need in your life at that moment.

    • Marlene W

Thank you Nicole for your comment.  Thank you for the compliment too.

It is good to hear you have a Bible that makes sense to you.

I agree with you, does not matter how or what, if you understand the messages and meanings the Bible gives us, and incorporate it into your life and live accordingly, then you have all you need to handle life at the moment.
