The Game Of Life and How To Play It by Florence Scovel Shinn.

God is Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and truth.  (St. John 4:24)

The Game Of Life and How To Play It by Florence Scovel Shinn is one of the best books I’ve ever read.  I love it.  This is my new favorite book next to the Bible, of course.

There are so many valuable truths inside this book, all relating to the Bible.  Amazing truths.  The Spiritual way of thinking makes the Bible come to life, it is open and so clear to understand, which makes it easy and valuable to incorporate in your everyday life.

The change you want, and the way of living and interpreting all these things is a way of life.  Understanding and truly living what you learn means to change your way of life.

Even though I grew up with this exact way of thinking, a different way of interpreting the Bible, I had a few AHAAAA moments myself when I read this book.  I think this is a very interesting read for anyone who are even the tiniest bit interested in the Bible.  Everything she writes just makes so much sense.

The Game of Life and How to Play it can be done by knowing exactly how to play the game which is called life.  It is a game of giving and receiving.  That which you give out, that you will receive.

This is a law which is absolute.  There are no exceptions, and there is no bargaining.

We learn not to build your decisions or plans on the past.  Make them and build on them with only now and the future in mind.  “…now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthians 6:2) “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation”.  Sounds pretty clear to me.  You cannot change the past, why focus and mingle in it.  Acknowledge it, thank it for teaching you valuable lessons, then let it go, forgive and forget the Bible says.  Not just situations and others, but forgive yourself and then forget it.  Bless it for what it was and just bless it to be positive and fruitful.

I grew up in a home with a different way of thinking.  A different way of interpreting the Bible and life too.  A Spiritual way.

While I was growing up I thought we were weird.  As I grew older I realized we’re not weird, we are just different, unique.  The love of my life got to know the Spiritual way of thinking and living through my family, and soon after he was introduced to this he exclaimed that now he found the missing link, it all makes perfect sense now.

His life changed greatly.  I saw it and I loved it.  He did not change, he just became better.  He is a awesome being of light and love.  He moves through life effortlessly, with love and grace.  He is a picture of bliss, calm and serene, peaceful at all times.

He told me I have a gift that is precious and that I never fully realized it.  Or I don’t realize the power it holds.  This made me think, a lot, and then I came across this great book The Game Of Life and How To Play It by Florence Scovel Shinn.

As if this book was send to me, pieces of the puzzle shifted into place the moment I read this book.  It’s all connected.  Like one big ass giant spiders web or an enormous puzzle, everything is connected.    The physical world and the spiritual world walks hand in hand together.  The one has an effect on the other.  It does, more than most of us think.  The one is a shadow of the other, so closely related are the spiritual world and the physical world.

In the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth.  That is the Heaven and earth within me.  There are three parts to my mind, the conscious mind, the subconscious mind and the super conscious mind.  For me it’s in the super conscious mind where God created this heaven and earth.  In a Spiritual sense, a Spiritual Heaven and earth.  The special place of divine design.   See the reference in the Bible in Luke 17:22.

Everything in your life, in this natural world are seen and experienced in the spiritual world.  Let’s take Genesis 1 for example.  We all know this piece, it’s the creation.  The earth was without form, and void, but the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.  So, there was water, therefore not void?  Does not make much sense, but when you think of the earth as being your mind, and the water the word of God.  Then I see that this is all about spirituality, before you understood what it means, you were empty and confused regarding the word of God, it was a mess.  You had it, but you didn’t understand it, therefore you were empty in regards to the word of God.

So when your creation was done, all truth and spirituality was changed into organized understanding.  In Genesis 1:3 God said let there be light, and there was light.  He merely spoke a word, but this is not just any word, it’s the word of understanding.  Light being the understanding of the spiritual meaning of the Bible.  The moment you understand, it is like a light goes on.  This is how God was able to only create the sun, the moon and the stars on the third day of the creation, but there was light from the 1st day.

Jesus Christ teaches us that each person has the power to bless and to multiply, to heal and to prosper.   I have the power to heal and direct my entire life as well as myself.  This is possible by desire, faith and the spoken word.  Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened.  (Math 7:7) Think about this for a moment, no where does it say that it depends on circumstances, or we’ll see….. or maybe.  No it clearly states that whatever we wish and ask that will be given unto us, no questions asked.  Why do I doubt?

In the book The Game Of Life and How To Play It by Florence Scovel Shinn, her explanation on faith and fear struck a chord.  She explains that fear is the opposite of faith.  Faith is of God, and fear is from the evil side of things.  I don’t want to say the devil.  But you know what I mean.

Fear should be substituted for faith.  Perfect pure childlike faith.  Utter confidence, complete trust, a strong believe based on something you cannot see or feel.  Faith can move mountains, Matt. 17:20.  Another one that is beautiful is this one written in James 1:6, it says when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

Your faith should be that of a mustard seed, and then nothing is impossible.  Another great example of this lesson is found in Luke 17:6 where what our faith should be, is compared to a mustard seed, the power we have to tell a tree to uproot and plant itself in the sea.  Let’s take a spiritual look at this.  The tree being you, or a group of like minded people.  The sea as being the unknown, or where the confusion lies.  Like the red sea that the Israelites had to cross too, where it was divided into two walls of water.  The king and his men drowned in all the chaos and confusion. The Israelites got through, which when you work it out mathematically would not have been at all possible to do, but they did.  And it all makes sense when you interpret it Spiritually.

Spoken words carry great power.  I have heard words described as being the most powerful force available to humanity.  Words have the energy and the power to create or to break.  Just imagine the immense power to be able to create, anything.  It says in Proverbs 12:18 that the tongue of the wise brings healing.  The words of the wise are like goads, we drive and direct our lives with our spoken words.  Directing and creating all the time.

Proverbs 18:21 clearly states that death and life are in the power of the tongue.  Words have power.  Words are powerful.  Words are wonderful.  God is the word, the word is God.  Jesus Christ taught us in various places throughout the Bible that any one of us has the power to bless, to multiply and to heal as well as to prosper through our own spoken words.

But it’s also clear that you have to make the first move.  All through the Bible there are examples of this.  There were these three Kings in the desert.  They had to dig ditches in preparation of water with no logical way of water being in the desert. They acted on faith, and they believed. You can read about this in Kings.

The following are words I say to myself every day.  The guideline I got from the book The Game Of Life and How To Play It by Florence Scovel Shinn.

“Infinite Spirit open the way for great abundance for me, for I am an irresistible magnet for all that belongs to me by divine right.  Only good can come into my life, only good can manifest.I now smash and demolish by my spoken word all negative history, all negative thoughts and feelings, all negative words, every untrue record in my subconscious mind I now smash and demolish.  All my own vain imaginings are gone.  I replace this with health, wealth, prosperity and love.  Blessed to be positive and fruitful. I have the power to neutralize and forgive my mistakes.  I have the power, there is only one power.”

To end off today, I still want to add that in Jude 1:10 it is written that we are supposed to understand the Scriptures in a Spirital way.  To me it’s clear that I am heading in the right direction.  Read this book, it’s a real mind opener.  A life changer.
